Duties
What to Expect
- Assists the Manager daily by opening and closing the activity.
- Assists and services customers by providing directions, demonstrating equipment and services, and/or assisting in purchase of merchandise.
- Operates a cash register, receives payments, makes change, and completes related sales records.
- Performs daily maintenance of Skeet Range facility, equipment, and weapons.
- Strictly enforces posted safety rules and range procedures.
- Issues weapons, targets, and applicable safety equipment.
- Provides actual shooting demonstrations, issues weapons and ammunition, cleans and repairs archery equipment.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties associated with the assigned operations.
- This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
This is a ¿covered position¿ for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. If the incumbent comes in contact with firearms, or ammunition in this position they must complete a DD Form 2760 certifying whether, or not they have ever obtained a ¿qualifying conviction¿ for a misdemeanor, or felony crime of domestic violence. All covered employees have a continuing obligation to notify their supervisors through use of the DD Form 2760 if they obtain a qualifying conviction.
This is a non-critical sensitive position, must be able to successfully obtain/maintain a Tier 3 background investigation.

What are we looking for?
- Minimum two years experience in customer service, knowledge of current rules, regulations, and procedures for operating a live fire range and skill in handling firearms and ammunition is required.
- Knowledge of the functioning and safe cleaning methods of a wide variety of firearms.
- Must be certified by Range Control as a Range Safety Officer or ability to obtain certification within 120 days of hire.
