Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Range Operator Maintainer (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision.
The ability to construct, repair or installation of targets, signs, markers and/or barriers. Repairing and maintaining electrical and/or mechanical components of moving, lifting and/or stationary devices.
- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort
- Assignments routinely require lifting of equipment weighing over 70 pounds, with the assistance of another employee.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping and climbing.
Working Conditions
- Performs maintenance and repair work on firing ranges in all types of weather.
- The work requires knowledge and application of and strict adherence to work procedures and safety precautions to avoid potential hazards of high-pressure lines and high voltage lines in the Armor Moving Target Carrier (AMTC).
- Work subjects the employee to the possibility of cuts, bruises, electric shock, broken bones, skin irritation, burns and insect, reptile and rodent bites.
- Wears protective clothing and uses safety equipment (e.g., safety shoes, hard hat, eye/face/ear protection, etc.).
- Work may also expose the employee to the hazards of unexploded live rounds (duds), explosive simulator devices (flash, steel on steel, and smoke pyrotechnics).
