This position is located at RICHARDSON POOL, Schofield Barrack, Hawaii on the Island of Oahu.

U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

Duties

  • Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty.
  • Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of teaching aquatic swimming and water survival training according to TC 21-21.

Conditions of Employment

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Must be able to work continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
  • The following certificates must be obtained within 6 months of appointment: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent; OR American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also require complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Must be able to work weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
  • Must be able to pass swim and CPR/AED assessment prior to oral interview which includes: demonstration of 300 meter swim, treading water, retrieval of mannequin from pool, and demonstration of CPR/AED.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification.

2. American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates (CPR) Certification.
