Clarification from the agency
ONLY applicants residing in the South Korea area and eligible under the Spouse Employment Preference (SEP) and Family Member Preference (FMP) eligible candidates will be considered. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinary resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
Requirements
Conditions of employment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
- Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
- Lifeguards must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
- Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
- Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty. Fifteen(15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
- In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
- All required certifications must be kept current.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess and maintain the following certifications:
- A valid Lifeguarding and First Aid certification (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS)
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered to have "Highly Qualifying Criteria" :
A valid U.S. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification to possibly teach swim lessons.
NOTE: Applicants who meet both minimum qualifications and highly qualifying criteria will be referred to the selecting official for consideration first. If management does not wish to select a highly qualified candidate, they may request a referral list including all qualified applicants. Qualification must be clearly verifiable in your resume. Government positions must include pay plan, series, grade, to and from dates, and government agency/department. (All qualification requirements must include experience performing duties equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level.)

- This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
- Foreign overseas allowances, post allowance, and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
