Duties

  • Works as a Recreation Aid (Physical Fitness), in the Pentagon Athletic Center. Issues and ensures correct, proper, and safe use of all fitness equipment. Explains equipment usage to guests. Cleans and performs minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Works various sport and fitness programs and tournaments. Answers member questions, conducts inventory, and maintains membership database. Utilizes automated booking system to make various reservations and appointments.
  • Operates commercial laundry machines to wash and dry bulk laundry items. Fold/stacks finished items. Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways, sports courts, and other common areas using powered equipment in accordance with established cleaning schedules.
  • Is familiar with the working of the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi operations, ensures safety/usage is monitored. Reports and problems to the immediate supervisor or the manager on duty as soon as possible. Performs In-house laundry duties.
  • Responsible for money handling and maintaining internal control practices. Prepares and sells items from the on-site pro-shop/wellness area. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 to include a Medical Physical.
  • Incumbent is required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Must meet physical requirements of position such as walking on hard surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items or carts up to and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • 1st and or 2nd Shift. Available between the hours of 0430-2130 Monday to Friday and 0730-1400 Saturday/Sunday (40 hours work week).

Qualifications

Standard Qualifications:
  • Must demonstrate the ability to offer excellent customer service and the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain tools and equipment.
  • Ability to keep areas neat and clean and in order.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to speak and understand English clearly.
  • Must have or be able to obtain American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification within 6 months of hire.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
