Summary
This position is assigned to the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department; Fleet Readiness (N92); Commander, Navy Region Naval District Washington; NSF Dahlgren, VA. Incumbent serves as a Recreation Aide, providing customer service and support for the Bowling Center Front Desk and Snack Bar.

Duties
Front desk duties comprise 55% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to:
- Greets patrons upon arrival and answers telephones. Advises patrons of services, activities and food offerings and answers inquires. Responds to customer complaints, referring unresolved issues to the manager on duty.
- Uses a Point of Sales system to assign bowling lanes, billiard tables and reserve lanes for groups. Maintains waiting list for bowling lanes and billiard tables. Computes charges and collect payment for services. Completes daily activity reports (DAR) and ensures proper deposit of receipts.
- Issues shoes according to size needed. Accepts return of shoes, sprays shoes with disinfectant and returns to proper storage. Replaces shoe laces as needed.
- Ensures leagues start bowling at scheduled times. Monitors patrons to determine misuse of lanes, equipment or violation of rules and notifies management. Notifies mechanic or management of scorer or pinsetter problems.
- Performs necessary housekeeping tasks in assigned spaces to ensure proper standards of appearance, safety and cleanliness. Maintains assigned areas to ensure neatness, sanitation and order. Cleans daily assigned work areas, front coolers, and counters observing all sanitary and safety regulations. Ensures proper security and closing procedures are followed to prevent fire or theft.
Snack Bar duties comprise 45% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to:
- Sells food items, beverages, and bottled beer from the Snack Bar. Computes charges and collects payment for food and beverage items.
- Completes daily activity reports (DAR) and ensures proper deposit of receipts.
- Expedites/delivers food orders.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be available to work a varied work schedule to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must pass all applicable records and background check.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic food handling techniques.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the basic rules and requirements of bowling.
- Knowledge of the activities and assigned area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
- Knowledge of sanitation requirements for the assigned area of responsibility.
- Ability to read and understand written material.
- Ability to work tactfully and be courteous of others.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform routine housekeeping tasks.
- Ability to present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times.
- Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to notify manager on duty.
