Duties
Assists in planning, scheduling and executing recreational activities, trips and outings and in conducting day to day operations of the Liberty Recreation Center.
Checks patron eligibility to ensure authorized use of facilities, resources and equipment. Assists in ensuring a comprehensive recreation facility containing but not limited to, Navy Motion Picture Program, billiards, ping pong, video games, board games, Wi-Fi, etc.
Provides information on Liberty programs and activities and promotes use of recreational resources available through all MWR Programs. Assists with training lower level employees. Collects fees from customers, operates Point of Sales (POS) system and completes Daily Activity Reports. Conducts daily walkthrough of the facility and submits trouble calls.
Conducts outreach to tenant commands, deployed units, and other locations on the installation to market programs.
Maintains inventory of all equipment, fixed assets and merchandise.
Assists with planning and implementing leisure skill classes.
Assists with the execution of base wide Community Events and with August Bay recreation facility when visiting ships are in port by opening/closing the facility, issuing recreational resources, and operating a bar.
Drives a van to transport members to events and trips throughout the local area.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Conditions of Employment
- Must be 18 years of age and out of high school.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- Incumbent is required to have a valid and current US driver’s license (ATTACH COPY TO APPLICATION).
- Work schedule may include irregular working hours to include early shifts, late shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Eligible candidates must possess: No-Fee Passport (containing VISA and Statement), Sponsor's Permanent Change of Station (PCS) Orders, including page 2 if necessary, or Command-Sponsorship authorization, and Sojourner's Permit/Application Letter.
- Male candidates born after December 31, 1959, and at least 18 years of age, are required to certify that they have registered with the Selective Service System (Attach proof of registration).
- Position may involve long periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending and lifting up to 44 pounds and occasionally heavier items. Position may also require working outside for special events, leading outdoor outings or group trips.
- Will be required to obtain Emergency First Responder or CPR/First Aid/AED certification, Customer Service Training and MWR Food and Beverage Alcohol Safety Certification, within the first 90 days of employment.
- Must satisfactorily complete a background investigation (NACI).
Qualifications
Six months of general experience
and six months of specialized experience
OR successful completion of 2 years of study above high school that included at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation.
General Experience: any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position.
Specialized Experience: experience at the next lower level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties described above and that is typically in or related to the work of this position.

Qualified candidates will also be rated and ranked by the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) to determine order of referral:
- Knowledge of recreational techniques, equipment, rules and procedures.
- Knowledge of current electronic device technology.
- Knowledge of general office and cash handling procedures.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic to compute charges, dispense change and prepare reports.
- Ability to assist in planning, developing and administering recreational activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to drive up to a 13-passenger van.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and of Microsoft Office Programs.
- Skill in basic troubleshooting of video game consoles, laptops, tablets, television, etc.
- Strong customer service skills.
Education
