Duties

  • In a patron usage facility, circulates among patrons to assure service is satisfactory; receives and resolves customer complaints; provides information and general instructions on the use of equipment, facilities and machinery.
  • Required to perform Lifeguard duties, responsible for safeguarding the lives of persons using the swimming pool. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Ensures that safety rules are followed.
  • Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Maintains daily logs and records as required.
  • Plans, conducts, publicize and arrange support for special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions. May provide work guidance to other staff.
  • Assists patrons in use of the facility by checking out equipment, providing safety instruction, demonstrating new equipment, teaching classes, etc.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Lifeguard certification required within 30 days of hire. Failure to obtain lifeguard certification within 30 days of hire may result in separation.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 45 lbs.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical may be required.
  • Must be willing to work a schedule that includes working nights, weekends, and possible holidays.

Qualifications

1. Work experience related to the duties described above that included customer service, operation and maintenance of sports facilities and fitness equipment.2. Possess the following certificates:
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • First Aid Certification
(Certificates issue by American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)For facilities that use Automated External Defibrillator "AED's" and Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the following is required:
  • American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates AED certification.
  • American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates Oxygen Administration certification.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives may be paid.
  • Incentive or bonus up to $1,000 is authorized.
  • This position is eligible to receive a $500 cash bonus after 50 hours worked plus a second $500 cash bonus after 100 hours worked.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
