Duties
- Works under general supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager or Recreation Specialist as a Recreation Assistant.
- Instructing groups and individuals in a variety of outdoor programs, such as but not limited to rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, challenge course.
- Using a variety of teaching methods to effectively communicate to participants who have a wide range of abilities and backgrounds; teaches children as well as adults.
- Performs other duties as required.

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must have or be able to obtain a current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification.
- If water rafting is part of the duties, satisfactory completion of required Raft Guide Training must be completed within three weeks of appointment.
- Requires irregular schedule which includes, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
Must have knowledge of and experience in a wide variety of Outdoor Recreation pursuits.
Highly Preferred:
Applicants pursuing a degree in Recreation Management, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field, and in the process of completing an internship or fieldwork program will be considered highly qualified.
