Duties

Performs and/or assists in the operation of a Youth Sports program. Establishes and maintains schedules of events as well as the rules and regulations, and by-laws to be observed. Sets up Gymnasium and athletic fields for sporting events, tournaments, and practices that require a practical knowledge of the rules and procedures of such activities (i.e., simply not manual labor assignments); inspects sports facilities and equipment for security and general conditions. Prepares and maintains youth ball fields to ensure safety requirements as well as proper field layout specification are met. Aids participating youth ages 5-17 in a variety of recreational programs to include sports, fitness programs, and tournaments. Organizes and schedules events to include tournaments and sporting events and arranges for necessary publicity flyers, posters, banners, and newspaper articles. Establishes and maintains schedule of events and posts team and individual standings. Responsible for facilities and all assets in the absence of supervisor. Is responsible for knowing and complying with all applicable Air Force safety, 1 health, and security and fire regulations. Overseas and trains volunteers to include coaches, assistant coaches, and other volunteers. Responsible for planning, conducting, and preparing after-program evaluation reports for all programs. Will be required to operate up to and include a 15 passenger extended van and field maintenance equipment. May open and close facility to patrons on assigned shift. Monitors the use of the facility and ensures that only authorized patrons utilize the facility by administering identification checks and monitors patrons behavior to ensure proper order. Resolves complaints of patrons with tact and diplomacy. Assumes the responsibility of the Youth Sports Director in his/her absence. Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and have the ability to speak, read, and write English. Have experience which has been demonstrated a good knowledge of the physical and psychological factors in individual and team sports. In addition, experience which has shown ability to plan, supervise, administer, or cany out sports program; ability to guide and teach participants the skills and techniques for participation in various sports. Have ability to work with children and extensive knowledge of sports. Be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Have progressively responsible experience in a recreation program activity which as involved recreation work in the area of specialty of which the applicant is being considered. A degree in recreation, physical education, or other related are or equivalent experience in the recreation field is desirable. Be able to satisfactorily complete a state, installation and national agency check. "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing/or drug use."

Education

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
