This position is located with FMWR Special Events on Fort Wainwright, AK.

Up to 25% recruitment incentive may be authorized. Eligible for 1.69% COLA.

Duties

  • Organizes, plans, and evaluate community programs that reflect community interests.
  • Works in executing community-wide recreation events, programs and services to meet the diversified needs of the community, including a variety multi-disciplinary events, i.e.: social activities; tournaments and other major programs.
  • Develops and plans publicity using installation media.
  • Recommends items if supplies, materials, prizes, decorations, refreshments, and equipment needed for program functions.
  • Assures that proper security measures are taken to safeguard monies, property, equipment and facility.

Qualifications

Experience OR a combination of experience and education that provided the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups.

Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience. **Transcripts MUST be submitted at the time of application if using education to qualify.

Candidates who possess the highly preferred criteria listed below will be referred to the selecting official first (experience must be verifiable within your application package):
1. Possess at least one (1) year experience providing oversight, planning, and executing events for 50+ patrons such as concerts, comedy shows, holiday events, etc. within the last five (5) years.
2. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
3. Possess a valid driver's license and be willing to drive-in all-weather conditions to include snow/ice for transportation of talent to and from areas of greater than five (5) miles as mission dictates.
4. Willing and able to work nontraditional hours alone to include long nights and weekends along with midnight airport runs for Talent.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives may be paid and are based on eligibility.
  • A recruitment incentive up to 25% may be authorized.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will be paid, contingent upon eligibility and is subject to change without notice.
