About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation.
Incumbent will work an irregular tour of duty which may include weekends and holidays.
This is a Regular Part Time (RPT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave).

Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, direct, evaluate, participate, conduct, and design, from beginner to advanced, a wide array of year-round outdoor recreational activities and programs under the supervision of the Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Outdoor Recreation).
These activities include but are not limited to: Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP), water or land based activities, and other instructional programs. All activities/programs must include a risk assessment, a comprehensive itinerary, and a concrete process for obtaining customer comments, suggestions, and overall input/feedback.
The primary duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- recommend new or additional activities based on the gathered information/ research and approved by management.
- The OAP will evaluate information and make proper/professional decisions based on what the needs are from the military, and/or affiliated, community.
- Responsible for professional completion of potential activities with thorough job accomplishment.
- Develops annual/quarterly/monthly/weekly programs as specified by management; creates calendars, flyers, brochures, and any/all marketing promotions needed for successful activities.
- Also, obtains permits/tickets, prepares pre-departure plans and meeting with customers, participants, volunteers, and/or drivers.
- Also, plans menus/purchases food with assurance of action reports completion. Briefs manager and Outdoor Recreation staff on activity/program itinerary and plans.
- Transports patrons for events and activities as required for the program.
- Is responsible for proper functioning of equipment rental ensuring all needed items are in professional working order (cleaned, fastened, operational, etc.) trains staff on maintenance, fitting and related duties.
- Assists with implementing higher level directives, formulating procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional programs.
- Assists with establishing financial goals commensurate with market analysis of area.
- Assists in preparing budget analysis financial results, and help maintain solid financial condition of the overall program.
- Performs administrative tasks, preparing after action reports/briefs, marketing programs/activities to customers, compiling continuity, responding to critiques (positive or negative by phone call or letter), comment cards, verbal critiques, and maintains appropriate records.
- Assists in maintenance of facility to meet operational standard.
- Maintains professional relationships with staff members, volunteers, participants, individuals.
- Provide information regarding and relating to general Outdoor Recreation operations/activities/programs and specific information relating to OAP position.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
- Must have 2 years of progressively responsible work experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to independently carry out a continuing outdoor recreation program, by applying the proper principles, concepts and techniques of various outdoor recreation activities.,
- OR College degree in Recreation, which is directly related to the position being filled.
- Programming and activity planning experience required and experience must have been gained in an Outdoor Recreation program, or government agency, parks & recreation department, collegiate/educational environment, summer camp or similar activity.
- Experience in equipment asset accountability, money handling and budgeting required.
- Ability to communicate both written and orally.
- Ability to operate one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with the GWV of up to 10,000lbs, such as pickup trucks, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, keeps or station wagons.
- Must have a clean driving record and be able to adapt to changing conditions quickly and safely.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
