Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Road Sweeper Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. Performing common Road Sweeper Operator tasks including operating a 10 ton truck and attached mounted vacuum sweeper clearing roads of trash and other debris and performing driver's maintenance on vehicles. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT - Heavy physical effort is required to lift sweeper brooms and other attachments. Employee will be required to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds), and occasionally will lift and handle items weighing up to 46 kilograms (100 pounds) with assistance from other employees or lifting devices. Operator is constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by constant vibration of equipment and operation over rough surfaces.
- WORKING CONDITIONS - Work is primarily performed outside where employee is exposed to all types of weather conditions. Exposed to dirt, dust, noise, vibration, and fumes from the equipment. May suffer cuts and bruises. Serious injury may result from getting caught in equipment or from collision with vehicular traffic on roads. Required to wear and use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and installation SOPs.
