Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Roads Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Roads Maintenance Worker tasks such as patching holes and worn places in asphalt pavement, repairing road surfaces, and painting crosswalks. Drives wheeled type tractor with towing attachments such as auger and leveling blades to set fence posts and forms. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT - The maximum frequent lifting requirement is thirty pounds. The maximum occasional lifting requirement is thirty pounds. Frequent pushing of 32 pounds at the hip with leg assist is required as well as occasional upper extremity pulling of 25 pounds. Frequent pulling of thirty pounds with a hip/leg assist is required. Able to alternate postural positioning and can intermittently push, pull, or lift. Required to sit occasionally but required to walk and stand frequently. Upper extremity requirements rarely require repetitious use of the upper extremities bilaterally above the shoulder line, frequent repetitious use of the upper extremities bilaterally at the midline and frequent repetitious use of the upper of the upper extremities bilaterally below the midline. Frequent use of the dominant and the non-dominant hand is required for hard grasping holding, hitting and pressing. Use of the keyboard is not required. Required to frequently reach above the shoulder and below the mid-line. Required to frequently reach at the mid-line both within 20 inches of the body and extended from the body. Occasional bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, kneeling, climbing of ladders or stairs and twisting at the waist and the knee is required. Occasional twisting at the shoulder and crawling is required. Position requires work to be performed around chemicals, dust, gasses, odors and hot and cold fumes. Work is performed in an inside environment 10% of the time, 90% outside. Required to drive a truck that exceeds 26,001 pounds both automatic and standard, street sweepers, backhoes, wheeled tractors, leaf machines, and pothole trucks. Other machinery and equipment used is crimpers, pliers, wheelbarrows, rakes, shovels and hammers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside. Is exposed to dirt, dust, and soot in part of work. Some work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. Subject to noise, vibration, dust dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. May be required to wear and/or use protective equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and SOP's.
