The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley AFB, CO is searching for a Director, Mission Communications & Data Integration (S6) to support Space Systems Command/Delta 4 (MD4) (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).
Description:
Enterprise Architecture & Mission Mapping. Serves as Enterprise Architect for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining highly specialized and secure network architectures across NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS enclaves supporting unique and advanced Space Force Systems, to include JTAGS, SIBS, and Ground-Based Radars (GBRs). Discovers existing space mission network topologies, interdependencies, and logical and physical connections to build accurate mapping of Mission Relevant Terrain-Cyber in direct support of Defensive Cyberspace Operations and Current Operations (S63). Plays a pivotal role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and performance of networks that enable critical space-based missions, including satellite command and control, specialized sensor networks, and secure communications infrastructure supporting critical space-based and terrestrial systems enabling assured space access and superiority.
Specialize in Network Engineering and Implementation oversight, ensuring the robust cyber health and compliance of over 182 secure communication devices across global locations. Research and evaluates emerging network technologies relevant to Space Force missions, including satellite communications protocols, quantum networking, laser communications, and advanced encryption techniques to drive Future Operations (S65).
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with HQ SF, SAF/CN, other CFC Directorates, Space Systems Command (SSC), and Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), Air Force MAJCOMs, AFSMO, USSTRATCOM, USSPACECOM, DISA, NSA, NRO, and other DoD agencies. Cultivating and sustaining relationships with Chief Information Officers (CIO) for each of these agencies is paramount.
Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other technical experts to integrate network architectures with all MD 4 system and system support components, including satellites, leading Integration Operations (S64). Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with CFC staff, SBD 2, SSC, STARCOM, HQ USSF, USSPACECOM, USSTRATCOM, and USCYBERCOM to ensure a consistent, bidirectional flow of critical cyber information and the seamless execution of joint efforts. Directs operational control and execution by authoring Task Management Tool (TMT) actions, Operations Orders (OPORDs), and Fragmentary Orders (FRAGORDs) to compel feedback, coordinate tasks, and drive action across 17 subordinate units and 11 geographically separated locations. Authors local cyber and communications policies, standard operating procedures, and security classification guides based on directive guidance handed down from CFC and CYBERCOM.
Ideal Candidate:
Serves as the Director of the S6 Communication Systems Directorate, exercising executive-level supervisory and managerial authority over all functions and personnel within the directorate. The Director is the principal advisor to MD4 leadership on all matters concerning information technology, cybersecurity, and communications systems, and is responsible for providing the strategic vision and leadership necessary to achieve the directorate's mission.
