Summary

You will serve as a SITE SAFETY MANAGER in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC ROICC SOUDA BAY.

Duties

  • You will administer immediate corrective action during on-site inspections to prevent conditions that pose danger to life and property.
  • You will administer a safety and occupational health program in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • You will enter data into databases to set up and maintain files and records.
  • You will brief management officials on status or updates of new safety and occupational health developments.
  • You will compose reports to provide recommendations on safety issues to individuals inside or outside of the organization based on data analysis results.
  • You will create written reports or guidance based on inspections and other findings or conclusions.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1. Developing a safety program policy and procedures for company operations, to ensure compliance within departments; AND
2. Analyzing mishap data to target prevention efforts, and provide corrective actions; AND
3. Administering a safety data management information system to collect and track program activities to ensure metrics are available for departmental use; AND
4. Identifying safety compliance hazards to implement safety risk management guidance to mitigate hazards; AND
5. Reviewing and/or approving job hazard analyses (JHA) for a company safety program.

Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
