Duties

  • You will serve as a member of the entry/control vehicle inspection team which conducts private and commercial vehicle inspections.
  • You will have the ability to retain all persons found to be unauthorized to enter the installation and immediately contact the Security Forces to turn over persons suspected of issues that would be of an incriminating circumstance for question.
  • You may be required to testify on the results of investigations performed and violations observed.
  • You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during emergencies and normal rush hour traffic to ensure that entry control process is running in accordance of established procedures and naval regulations.
  • You will respond to emergency situations to implement security protocol and regulations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to pass a yearly physical and continue to be physically fit. Required to pass Physical Agility Test.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.

A forty-hour work week is typical of this position. Call back and emergency overtime may be requirements of this position.

Work may include assignments to train second, third or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays.

Physical Demands: The work requires, on a regular and recurring basis, long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching and similar activities.

Work Environment: Work is performed for the most part is outdoors in the heat, cold, rain, and wind during the hours of daylight and darkness; with work in or under extremely dangerous conditions. The work environment regularly involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environment stress which requires a range of safety and other precautions. The incumbent may also work in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to fumes, noise, and heat.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
