Duties

  • Serves as Assistant Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (AGSSO) with primary responsibility for the command's Physical Security and Special Access Program (SAP) security programs.
  • You will manage all aspects of physical security for command facilities, including the implementation and oversight of intrusion detection systems, access control, and physical security standards for new construction.
  • You will serve as the lead coordinator for the physical security of command spaces, conducting fixed facility checklists, managing lock/key programs, and executing random inspection procedures.
  • You will be responsible for the physical accreditation of all Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF), ensuring they meet stringent DoW and DoN standards.
  • You will develop and enforce procedures for physical access control, visitor management, and entry/exit inspections.
  • You will evaluate and resolve complex physical security issues and develop comprehensive command security plans/Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • You will serve as the command's subject matter expert (SME) on all matters related to the physical protection of Special Access Programs (SAPs).

  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS Trial Period.
  • This position requires a Counterintelligence (CI) scope polygraph examination with No Deception.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed timeframes. Please see "Additional Information" section for more information

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:

  1. Assistant Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (AGSSO) with primary responsibility for the command's Physical Security and Special Access Program (SAP) security programs.
  2. Lead coordinator for physical security of command spaces, conducting fixed facility checklist and executing random inspection procedures to ensure safeguarding of personnel, property, and classified information.
  3. Responsible for the physical accreditation of all SAP Facilities (SAPF), ensuring they meet stringent DOD, and Navy standards.
  4. Evaluates and resolves complex physical security issues, develops comprehensive command security plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Security Professional Education Development (SPeD):

This position is designated as a Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) position with a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) requirement and a Special Program Security Credential (SPSC). The SFPC is a DON baseline certification for security workforce employees that support/execute security programs that focus predominantly on the protection of, or vetting the access to, sensitive and/or classified information.

The incumbent must obtain certification within 24 months of assuming the position. SPeD certification/s must be maintained and undergo renewal process every two years in accordance with SECNAVINST 5500.38. Failure to obtain and maintain this condition of employment could result in disciplinary action and/or removal from employment.


This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
