Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Special Access Program security specialist, providing security support for Special Access Programs to include personnel access management, classification management, security violation management, security education and awareness training, and security surveys/special programs security inspections for assigned programs.

Duties

  • Supports Special Access Program (SAP) security for assigned directorate programs/facilities that support advanced or special programs and SCI material, ensuring that all elements of protection complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Directly supports the Government SAP Security Officer for assigned programs/activities. Follows guidance from AFOSI PJ Program Security Officer to create a secure environment to facilitate the successful development and execution of assigned SAPs.
  • Supports security oversight of special access programs. Implements operating standards for SAP facilities and provides assistance to senior level personnel on interpretation, clarification, and implementation of SAP directives.
  • Implements organization OPSEC guidance. Administers policies and procedures for accomplishment of OPSEC activities. Applies information protection principles to effectively mitigate OPSEC vulnerabilities.
  • Implements the visitor control program. Processes program access request, conducts indoctrination, and ensures annual refresher training for all cleared personnel.
  • Provides direction on security classification guide implementation, marking of classified information, and procedures associated with handling, control, access, and safeguarding of such information.

  • This is not a remote or full time telework position. Telework is limited to ad hoc/situational in coordination with the supervisor.
  • Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
  • Locations are not negotiable. The actual duty locations available may be located on the Air Force Civilian Service website.
  • This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.
  • This is a developmental position with promotion potential to grade NH-03, equivalent to GS-12/13

  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Work may occasionally require the employee to work outside the normal business hours.
  • This position is designated as a national security position.
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position.
  • This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).
  • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
  • The primary duties will be performed within a classified facility.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to implement security programs in these areas.
2. Knowledge of security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
3. Ability to evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.
4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

SAP experience is preferred but not required.
