The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Security Specialist, providing oversight and management of multiple security disciplines (physical, information, personnel, industrial, and operations) in support of the organization.

Duties

  • Implements and administers the Physical Security Program. Implements DOD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and develops local procedures for assigned facilities.
  • Administers the Personnel Security Program. Establishes local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military and civilian personnel. Initiates and reviews all requests for personnel security investigations.
  • Administers the Information Security Program. Implements DOD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and local procedures for the classification and protection of classified national defense and other sensitive information.
  • Administers the Industrial Security Program. Reviews solicitation and contract documents to ensure they include the appropriate security clauses and language.
  • Implements organization OPSEC guidance. Administers policies and procedures for accomplishment of OPSEC activities. Applies information protection principles to effectively mitigate OPSEC vulnerabilities.

  • Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position.
  • Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.
  • Work may occasionally require the employee to work outside the normal business hours.
  • This position meets the administrative exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.206).
  • This position is designated as a national security position.
  • Non-disclosure agreement must be signed. A favorable suitability determination is required before appointment.
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to implement security programs in these areas.
2. Knowledge of security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.
3. Ability to evaluate security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.
4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
