Summary

  • Plans, organizes, and directs a dimensional, multi-functional Unit Security Program in support of national security.
  • Implements the Industrial Security Program policies and guidelines for highly classified programs as a member of the organization's security management team.
  • Exercises independent judgment for implementation, oversight, and centralized control of the Information Security program for the Unit. Maintains classified material systems and is involved in the design, analysis, or monitoring of security systems or classified information which are in direct support of national security.
  • Implements the Personnel Security Program by establishing local procedures for processing requests for security clearances for military and civilian personnel as a member of the organization's security management team.
  • Implements the Physical Security and Operations Security (OPSEC) Programs as a member of the organization's security management team.

  • Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
  • The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty.
  • This position is a designated National Security Position.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position.

Experience requirements are descried in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

Purpose of this position is to serve as a Security Specialist with the responsibility to protect the organization from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information considered vital to mission interests, national defense and national security by serving as a security specialist, providing security program functions in support of the organization. Participates in the administration and implementation of the Industrial, Information, Personnel, Physical and Operations security programs as a member of the organization's security management team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Extensive knowledge of information, personnel, physical, industrial, communications and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security in these areas.

2. Comprehensive knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.

3. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization

4. Ability to establish effective, professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

5. This position is a designated National Security Position.

6. Obtain and maintain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC), and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) within 2 years of the initial assignment date to this position.
