Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a Small Craft Operator, XH-5786-08 without more than normal supervision performing tasks such as: 1) Working in the maritime industry operating/ maintaining vessels in support of debris removal operations; 2) Leading a crew in accomplishing debris missions; 3) Communicating with crew members of many personalities in an enclosed environment on a daily basis; 4) Performing complex maintenance tasks with the ability to troubleshoot/diagnose to remedy the situation using various hand tools.
Selective Placement Factor: Required to possess and maintain a valid 100 TON vessel operator license with towing endorsement and a current Radar Observer Endorsement issued by the U.S. Coast Guard or a recognized school.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Most of the work is performed out-of-doors and upon the debris removal boat in variable, but not severe weather conditions. Exposed to usual navigation hazards, and the possibility of falling overboard and drowning. Generally exposed to grease, noise, vibration, gases, fumes, and slippery surfaces.
PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Requires sustained physical effort. Incumbent is exposed to frequent physical exertion such as in lifting objects up to 50 pounds, pulling ropes, and cables; climbing up and down steps; lifting tools, materials, and supplies. The incumbent is required to walk on wet, slick, icy decks, and rough and uneven terrain. The incumbent must be able to maintain alertness and have good muscular and visual coordination. Requires the ability to transfer between shore point and vessels under potentially adverse conditions.
