Summary

THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION
This position is in the Excepted Service under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)

This position is part of the IN 122nd Fighter Wing, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number PD#T59128P1.

Duties

  • Actively supports the commander’s leadership team in addressing the psychological health of their installation.
  • Conducts assessments, routine and crisis evaluations, psycho-diagnostic assessments, provides short-term, evidence-based problem resolution strategies and services.
  • Designs, develops, coordinates, and implements prevention and community outreach and education programs.
  • Responsible for marketing and marketing evaluation activities.
  • Provides professional consultation, advice, education, and training to other military and non-military health care professionals, medical personnel, military commanders/senior leaders, and personnel concerning prevention programs.
  • Prepares agenda for meetings, compiles statistical data, and prepares a variety of recurring reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • The employee will be required to take a drug test.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Master’s in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands.
  • Must be privileged for independent practice by the Credentials Committee at the employing Medical Treatment Facility.
  • A minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work is highly desired.
  • Position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) in accordance with local MDG policies. Must be obtained with 6 months of onboarding.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Incumbent may share on-call duty during weeknights and/or weekends on a rotational basis as required consistent with other mental health professionals of the same specialty performing like duties.
  • This position may be identified as having “regular contact with children,” requiring a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for the position.
  • Completion of appropriate clinical and administrative duties may involve “after hours” care or work in addition to regular duty hours.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain privileging for the DOD/AFMS/ANGMS IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119.
  • Must maintain credentials requirements at all times (i.e. current and unrestricted state license, BLS, clinical competencies, etc.) IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Master's Degree: in Social Work. (Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.)

SPECIALIZED EXPERIMENT: Must have 24 months of experience in clinical social work assignments. Completion of the Air Force Social Work Internship Program may be substituted for 12 months of the specialized experience requirement. This experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Except as stated above, no other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed. A minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work is highly desired.

Education

Master's Degree: in Social Work. (Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.)
