Clarification: An appointment under a Internship is intended to continue through completion of education and work requirements.
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Basic Requirements:
For the GG-03 grade level: Completion of 1 full academic year of post high school study.
For the GG-04 grade level: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree.
For the GG-05 grade level: Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
For the GG-07 grade level: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision after completing a bachelor's degree.
All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
PROGRAM COMPLETION AND CONVERSION ELIGIBILITY: Upon successful completion of their academic program and the Internship program, interns may be converted to a term GG position in the competitive service consistent with agency needs, academic achievement, and demonstrated potential. Conversion potential for this opportunity is a GG 343 5/7/9/11 up to the full performance level of GS 11. However, future budgetary events, hiring restrictions, conversion caps, or other events may preclude the conversion or conversion to a position with the full potential performance level. Individuals converted to a position in the competitive service may be subjected to participation in an agency formal development program.
To be eligible for conversion:
- Meet any agency-specific requirements specified in the Participant's Agreement.
- Demonstrate successful job performance that results in a rating of record of at least Fully successful and a recommendation for conversion by the first level supervisor.
- Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Program while enrolled as a half- or full-time degree- or certificate-seeking student;
- Complete a course of academic study/degree conferred, at a qualifying educational institution conferring a diploma, certificate or degree
- Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the intern will be converted;
- Receive a favorable recommendation by supervisor
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
In addition to meeting the qualified experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, regency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing KSA's or competencies are required.
