Summary

About the Position: Serves as Chief and Resource Manager of Architecture/Structures Section, responsible for the management and supervision of a professional staff providing highly complex architectural/structural/historic preservation work for civil, military and Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) projects.

Duties

  • Works under the general supervision of the Branch Chief who assigns work in terms of objectives and goals.
  • Assigns team members; prioritizes, plans, schedules, and executes project specific work.
  • Provides technical oversight of A-E’s who are used to perform design work.
  • Products include studies, designs, analyses, plans, and specifications for a wide range of building types, structures and ancillary projects.
  • Work products also include multiple purpose dams and appurtenant structures, navigation locks, breakwaters, docks, and waterfront structures.

Qualifications

This is a Term Position: Position may be filled as a Term appointment NTE 5 years. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years and may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) design management of a wide range of building types, structures and ancillary projects such as multiple purpose dams and appurtenant structures, navigation locks, breakwaters, docks, and waterfront structures; (2) preparing and monitoring design budgets; (3) collaborating with professional staff providing highly complex architectural/structural/historic preservation work for civil, military and Hazardous, Toxic, Radioactive Waste (HTRW) projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-13 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
