Communication: Clear and effective communication is crucial. Supervisors must be able to convey information, expectations, and feedback to their team members and higher-ups.
Decision-Making: The ability to make informed and timely decisions is essential. This includes assessing situations, weighing options, and choosing the best course of action.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills are necessary to inspire, influence, and motivate team members. This involves setting a positive example, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment.
Adaptability: Supervisors must be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances and challenges. This includes being open to new ideas and approaches.
Conflict Resolution: The ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively is important. This involves understanding different perspectives, mediating disputes, and finding mutually acceptable solutions.
Financial Management: Proficiency in financial management is crucial. This includes planning, organizing, and controlling financial resources to achieve specific goals.
Budget Analysis, Calculation, Formulation and Execution: The ability to develop and implement budgets is essential. This involves preparing budget proposals, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills are necessary to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make informed decisions. This includes financial analysis and forecasting1.
Communication: Effective communication skills are vital for presenting financial information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders, including senior leadership and team members.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with financial software and tools such as Excel, QuickBooks, and Enterprise Resource Management systems. SAP are important for efficient budget management and reporting.
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
(1) utilizing budgetary software [such as but not limited to: General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) input, Business Intelligence (BI) fund reporting, etc.] for resource planning or fund control;
(2) providing financial advisory recommendations in accordance with budget policies; AND
(3) leading a team or working group on a financial program.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
