Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Managing the overall operations and supervision of a fire department; 2) Supervising firefighting and emergency response activities in a wide variety of structures and facilities; and 3) Managing work schedules, setting performance standards, implementing personnel management policies and administering EEO programs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. The employee is required to work Monday thru Friday with one shift 24 hours a week. Employee may be required to adjust work schedule which includes nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime and recall.
2. The employee is required to pass an occupational physical prior to employment, and then an annual occupational health examination thereafter, as a condition of employment.
3. This is a Mission Essential Position. A position may be designated as mission essential, consistent with the criteria described in DoD Instruction (DoDI) 3020.42, "Defense Continuity Plan Development," dated February 17, 2006, certified as current as of October 29, 2019, and any other component-unique policies or definitions. Mission essential positions are those that are needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of an activity. Mission Essential designations are not prescribed by DTM 17-004. This decision is based on the type of work and supporting activities necessary to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations essential to the mission. This position is not E-E, or Key.
4. The employee must wear a uniform and safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
5. This position has been designated by the Department of the Navy as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the DON Drug Testing Program in recognition of the incumbent's role in assuming command of firefighting operations. Incumbent may be selected for random drug testing and may be subject to reasonable suspicion testing and safety mishap or accident testing.
6. This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
7. The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. As appropriate, valid State driver's license is required.
8. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. In accordance with NFPA 1582 and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) standards.
9. Incumbent must maintain a secret security clearance or interim security clearance while obtaining SECRET security clearance within 12 months of the date of hire. Failure to obtain and maintain required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
10. Firefighters must be physically fit at all times in order to perform the duties of their position to the best of their abilities. As such, all operationally based 0081 series employees shall participate in a Wellness and Fitness Program established by their Fire Department, in order to maintain a level of health and fitness necessary for performing their job functions. 11. If the employee is working a 60 hour work week with the additional hours past the 40 hour work week spent in operations, they are required to have all Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs), as well as the certifications required for the operational position in which they are performing (i.e. Firefighter/EMT, Firefighter/Paramedic, Captain, Asst. Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Chief).
12. Requisite Firefighter certifications for the position are published in DODM 6055.06, "USD(A&S) DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program (F&ESCP). Certifications are determined based on application of the published DOD commensurate with position mission-related duties.
13. Other certifications commensurate with other work assigned.
14. TDY travel may be required. Incumbent may be required to travel by military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of assigned tasks.
15. EMS Certification / Credential Level: - As determined by AHJ / CNIC N30
Employee is required to be certified by the DoD Firefighter Certification System as Fire officer IV, Fire Instructor I and II, Fire Inspector I and II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, Airport Fire Fighter and Firefighter I and II.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
