Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE DIVISION of NAVCONSTRBATCTRGPT.

Duties

  • You will dispose of bio hazardous medical materials related to an emergency.
  • You will coordinate vehicle maintenance, safety alerts, and product recalls of tools for a fire station.
  • You will advise on health and safety aspects of a risk management plan.
  • You will maintain proficiency in search and rescue techniques (e.g., auto extraction, high or low angle rescue, confined space rescue, building collapse) for use in emergencies.
  • You will reposition a firefighter vehicle based on conditions to maintain safety of firefighters and equipment.
  • You will supervise firefighter personnel and provide program management on a daily basis.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
  • Required to work a 72-hour week, which includes weekends and holidays. Subject to mandatory overtime and recall.
  • You will be required to participate on Hazardous Materials team.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directly oversee all phases of this training, assigning training to journeymen firefighters for on-job experience; 2) Perform rescue operations on a daily basis; 3) Detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; 4) Operation of fire communications equipment; 5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents and/or developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention.


This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I and II, III Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HazMat Awareness, Operations, Technician, and Incident Commander (under NFPA standards adopted by DOD), Driver Operator Pumper, and possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached a copy of your transcript or certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
