SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER

Current permanent employees of UIC and DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligibles. Internal only to UICs: 68436, 00620, 68967, and 68742.

• You will assess junior firefighter or employee work performance to determine if performance objectives are being met.
• You will administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient.
• You will determine the potential harm of hazardous material to people and the environment.
• You will lead a crew of three or more firefighters assigned to staff a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or rescue vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Detecting fire hazards (potential and immediate) and determining corrective action; 2) Operating firefighting vehicles and equipment in accordance with principles of hydraulics and firefighting techniques; 3) Providing emergency assistance (first aid, HAZMAT, etc.) in accordance with safety standards and regulations; 4) Applying the theory of fire propagation and progression to reduce fire hazards and/or combat fires; 5) Leading a crew of firefighters (i.e. directing drills, assigning work, etc.) (NOTE: Your answer must be supported by information in your resume.)
