For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Specialized Experience: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.
- Experience overseeing and managing command cyber readiness programs to include visits to command sites, ensuring compliance with DON and DOD cybersecurity requirements, ensuring security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented, and tracking audit findings.
- Experience overseeing policy standards and implementation strategies to ensure procedures and guidelines comply with cybersecurity policies as well as interfacing and disseminating necessary cyber compliance information to appropriate external organizations.
- Experience identifying alternative cybersecurity strategies to address organizational security objectives and identifying cybersecurity program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades.
- Experience Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the cybersecurity safeguards to ensure they provide the intended level of protection and provide technical documents, incident reports, findings from computer examinations, summaries, and other situational awareness information to higher headquarters.
- Experience supervising and directing subordinate personnel through the establishment of performance guidelines, criteria, and priorities and collaborating with organizational managers to support organization objectives.
