Summary

About the Position:
Works under the supervision of the Site Manager, Sagami General Depot, Army Field Support Battalion-Northeast Asia (AFSBn-NEA), who provides general guidance in terms of broadly a defined mission and goals.

Duties

  • Serves as the Chief, Maintenance Branch. Responsible for prioritizing and directing the work of Department of the Army Civilians (DACs) and Japanese Local National Master Labor Contractors (MLC) in a variety of logistics and maintenance disciplines.
  • Plans and coordinates management and execution of an annual maintenance program for tactical wheeled vehicles, power generation and engineering equipment, Non-Tactical Vehicles, and Materiel Handling Equipment in support of the Army mission.
  • Develops and executes the maintenance operation budget and quality control measures and standards.
  • Assigns work based on priorities and skill requirements, evaluates performance, interviews candidates and makes selections/recommendations for subordinate positions on appointments, promotions or reassignments.
  • Provides management oversight of the staff in the development of policy and procedures on equipment maintenance operations, to include maintenance personnel, shop/bench stock and budget requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing materiel maintenance management to include production, planning, and oversight of direct labor, equipment maintenance, supply activity, resource determination, and analysis in conjunction with the use of an automated logistics system, such as Global Combat Support System (GCSS) to accomplish the mission of the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
