Summary

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER in the COMMANDER NAVY INSTALLATION COMMAND (CNIC) of NSA MECH PHIL SECURITY DETACHMENT.

Duties

  • You will identify law enforcement employee development needs to verify performance goals are met.
  • You will conduct on-site inspections of law enforcement patrols to verify procedures are followed.
  • You will develop long-range security goals, plans, and objectives for a law enforcement organization.
  • You will arrest violators caught committing a criminal act.
  • You will monitor radio channels to ensure they are clear for transmission of emergency matters.
  • You will identify law enforcement areas that need improvement to provide recommendations.
  • You will provide technical guidance; identify training needs; interview and select candidates for vacancies; recommend promotions; approve leave; recommend awards and resolve disciplinary issues.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the mandated 40-hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) to be qualified to Operate motor vehicles (i.e. sedans, cargo trucks, pickup trucks) having gross vehicle weights of 7,000 pounds or less.
  • Must also successfully complete any annual sustainment training, Level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination training (if applicable), and OC refresher training.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directing and making immediate decisions in the provisions of law enforcement (LE), antiterrorism (AT), and Force Protection (FP); 2) Performing a full range of duties and responsibilities in preventing terrorist activities, resolving offenses, conducting preliminary and ongoing investigations of incidents; 3) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations; and 4) Implementing FPCON measures and RAM in the response to command direction and terrorist threats.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

This position requires rotating shift work.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Employee must successfully pass an initial, annual, or any required OPM, DoD, or Department of the Navy mental and emotional stability screening, physical ability test, and physical fitness for duty test.
