Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Police Officer (Kennel Master) in the Provost Marshal Office of MCLB ALBANY GA.

Duties

  • You will serve as the supervisor or the Working Dog and Military Working Dog (WD/MWD) section responsible for planning directing, training and managing the operations.
  • You will supervise all subordinate military or civilian WD/MWD handlers on assigned and rotation shifts that routinely deploy.
  • You will develop schedules, coordinates, maintain and lead the WD/MWD training and utilization program to ensure all WD/MWD teams are properly trained and used in all phases of WD/MWD, to include inspections, investigations and law enforcement.
  • You will train WD/MWD handlers in the role of WDs/MWDs in the use of force.
  • You will train WD/MWD handlers as agitators/helpers and ensures all training exercises are conducted as safely as possible.
  • You will assign work to WD/MWD handlers based on priorities, selective consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of the WD/MWD Handlers.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must successfully complete a designated USMC Basic Police Officers Course (BPOC) and meet all certifications requirements, to include weapons certifications, CPR, AED, DoD and Joint Training Regulations.
  • May be required to respond to off bass circumstances as directed by the installation commander, in accordance with USMC and DOD Policies
  • Incumbent must pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass periodic retests as required
  • Incumbent must pass all weapons qualifications prior to assigned duties and responsibilities and must pass all requalification's as required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Must pass explosive material physical, complete explosive/hazardous material training and obtain/maintain appropriate commercial hazard license in order to drive an explosives vehicle.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, directing, training, and managing police officer and Working Dog Handler operations; establishing Working Dog training, procedures, maintenance, and grooming standards to ensure proper Working Dog care and Kennel Facility upkeep; and performing inspection and investigating work to effect compliance of individuals with laws, rules, and regulations in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens.

Addition Condition of Employment:

Must be a graduate or attend the first available school of the Military Working Dog Kennel Masters Course at Lackland AFB, TX.
Incumbent must pass a sanctioned job compatibility/psychological examination.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
This is a Department of Navy drug testing designated position.
Must maintain program height and weight appearance standards.
Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety test, expandable or collapsible baton and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer.
Must meet medical standards for Police Officers in DoD 6055.85M and NMCPHC-TM-OM 6260.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
This is a Mission Essential Position.
Incumbent must carry firearm.
Must be 18 years of age.
