Responsibilities include organizing, managing, and supervising diverse health and fitness programs such as group exercise classes, self-directed fitness, incentive programs, special events, and instructional sessions. The incumbent may serve as a liaison with internal and external agencies to enhance program quality and support, as determined by leadership.

Programs address physical activity, injury prevention, nutrition, obesity, substance abuse, mental health, responsible sexual behavior, and disease management. These efforts support readiness, productivity, fitness, sports, esprit de corps, and quality of life for customers. Group exercise classes are conducted at various levels, and the use of fitness facilities is coordinated to support the comprehensive Semper Fit Program. The position ensures regular inspections of fitness and sports equipment, documents discrepancies, and submits reports for corrections.
The incumbent may drive government vehicles for equipment transport or site visits related to program oversight and participant engagement. Enhanced health and fitness programs are provided, supporting the Sports Program and ensuring required annual training at the unit level. Coordination with Unit Commanders includes installation outreach, health risk assessments, screenings, seminars, workshops, and training requirements. Recurring and non-recurring education, awareness activities, and special events are planned and conducted to align with Marine Corps policy and health promotion goals.

An annual comprehensive plan is established, identifying program goals, objectives, metrics, and health risks. Health promotion and management strategies are customized to improve overall health status of the population. Monthly calendars are developed for scheduled activities and national health observances. Preparation and submission of annual budgets are required, along with various administrative tasks such as updating procedures, management narratives, and after-action reports.
Work planning for subordinates includes setting priorities, scheduling, and completion tracking. Recognition and feedback for employee performance are provided, with recommendations for awards as appropriate. The incumbent advises employees on management policies and procedures, ensures mission and accuracy requirements, and practices sound position management including reviewing organizational structure and functional assignments. Responsibilities include interviewing and selecting candidates, managing details and reassignments, and supporting EEO objectives.

Leave scheduling and approval ensure adequate coverage during peak workloads and holidays. Comprehensive training programs are conducted, monitored, updated, and documented to ensure staff and volunteers possess necessary skills and knowledge. Performance expectations are communicated in advance, with appraisals and feedback provided according to Marine Corps guidelines.
