In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
A bachelor of science/art degree that included a major study in child or youth development/education or a related field (ie., youth recreation, elementary/early childhood education, physical education (K-6), music education (K-6), art education (K-6), human or family services/development, psychology, social work, guidance and counseling, home economics);
or, a combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in child or youth development/education or a related field, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition, candidate must possess the following: Extensive knowledge of the Military Child Care Act, DoD and Air Force policies; United States Department of Agriculture food program; accreditation requirement of the Council of Accreditation; experience working with regulatory, personnel, funding and budgeting proponents; Experience in training adults and working effectively with command staff, professional staff, and parents; Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions; Comprehensive oral communication and analytical writing skills. Ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences; Demonstrated ability in standard office software such as word processing, graphics presentations, spreadsheets, and email. All required background checks in accordance with AF policy and the Crime Control Act must be successfully completed, maintained, including Child Care Tier 1, pre-employment physical, and food handler's certification. "
