Summary

Serves as a Safety Specialist in the Security Department of the Hale Koa Hotel.

Tenure of this position not to exceed 2 years.

2024 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for Honolulu, HI is 8.90%.

Local candidates will be reviewed first as PCS is not authorized. If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered.

Duties

Supervisor assigns specific area of responsibility, safety objectives and applicable program constraints. The safety specialist establishes priority and completing dates in consultation with the supervisor. As the Safety Specialist, performs functions necessary to execute a safety and occupational health program. Conducts program surveys and inspections for the purpose of determining adherence to established safety managerial practices, and program functional requirements; to evaluate the effectiveness of the program implementation and to determine the extent to which procedures and physical conditions comply with consensus or mandated standards. Assignments include reviewing and following up on feeder reports of injuries and property damages; collecting, analyzing, summarizing and disseminating data on accident experience; preparing progress reports of safety activities; conducting investigations of serious accident and hazardous work conditions. Determines training needs through analysis of accident experience data and review of regulatory material. Implements education and training requirements, including instruction in safety orientation for new employees and supervisors. Serves as chair of the safety committee.

Qualifications

1) In-depth knowledge and work experience in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
2) Working knowledge and experience of safety data sheet (SDS) records and reporting requirements
3) Possess effective English written and oral communication skills
4) Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
