You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Sandblaster ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Sandblaster duties to include sorting work based on type and nature of item; preparing items for blasting by masking or covering; loading correct abrasive required for item type; operating stationary/portable sandblasting equipment; and maintaining equipment using maintenance manual instructions and following safety procedures. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Work requires standing, bending, and reaching in strained or awkward positions for prolonged periods of time. Lifts and carries items or material that weigh up to 40 pounds and controls nozzles or lines with extremely high pressures.
Working Conditions: Work is inside under varied temperatures, light, and ventilation conditions and is exposed to dirt, dust, noise, and flying objects. Incumbent is subject to cuts, burns, bruises, and broken bones and is required to wear protective equipment, such as ear protection, respirators, goggles, protective clothing and gloves, and safety shoes.
