Duties

You will perform all kinds of sandblasting tasks involved in the construction, repair, maintenance, overhaul and conversion of a wide variety of types and sizes of marine craft and vessels and in connection with miscellaneous manufacturing processes.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Assembling and setting up of portable sandblasting equipment.
  • Operating equipment, adjusting mixture of air, abrasive, and water by manipulating valves.
  • Manipulating hose to direct stream of abrasive over area required.
  • Transporting objects to be sandblasted.
  • Adjusting sandblasting machine to obtain proper stream of air and abrasive.

6. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (other than blueprints)
7. Dexterity and safety
