Duties
Duties include:
- Serves as branch and/or division receptionist.
- Processes incoming and outgoing email.
- Manages calendars and makes arrangements for staff meetings and events.
- Serves as principle contact for general concessions information in the concessions office, providing information such as reporting formats and deadlines.
- Disseminates relevant policy and procedural information to commercial service providers and park personnel as directed by supervisor or other senior employee.
- Assists others or conducts evaluations to ensure compliance with contracts and Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA). Issues CUAs.
- Drafts documents and manages spreadsheets.
- Utilizes Microsoft software and other computer programs to complete tasks described above.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: A portion of the work is sedentary, requiring long hours behind a desk or long periods of standing behind an information desk. Field work requires hiking 10 - 15 miles in a day through rough mountainous terrain with changing elevation over rough surfaces or canoeing 4 - 5 miles and will be performed at least once every two weeks. This work will involve carrying a heavy backpack, rescue equipment etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor work is performed in an office setting behind an information desk. Incumbent may be required to work a variety of hours, including day shifts and evening shifts, on a rotational basis. Scheduling may include holidays and weekends and occasional unscheduled overtime. While working the Permit Desk, incumbent may not leave unless relieved by a coworker or supervisor. Outdoor work is performed under various conditions and in various terrains in which there is regular and recurring exposure to discomforts and unpleasantness, e.g. high or low temperatures and adverse weather conditions. Canoeing the Snake River or any of the lakes from front country launches to backcountry locations (i.e., Leigh Lake) may be dynamic. Work may also be performed at elevations between 6,500 fee and 11,000 feet while hiking trails. Patrols in the backcountry require the incumbent be comfortable hiking solo in mountainous terrain.
AREA INFORMATION (Grand Teton National Park): Located in northwestern Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway preserve a spectacular landscape rich with majestic mountains, pristine lakes, and extraordinary wildlife. The abrupt vertical rise of the jagged Teton Range contrasts with the sage-covered valley, creating world-renowned scenery that attracts visitors from all over the world. These positions are being filled in Moose, Wyoming. Jackson (12 miles from Moose) is a small community of 10,000 year-round residents. The town caters to four million tourists every summer, has a hospital, public and private school system, grocery stores, and restaurants. Summer outdoor activities include hiking, camping, backpacking, horseback riding, boating, rafting, kayaking, hunting, cycling, mountain biking, world class fly fishing, climbing, and mountaineering. Summer temperatures are comfortable, with highs between 65 - 80 degrees.

AREA INFORMATION (Glen Canyon National Recreation Area): This position is in Page, Arizona at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on the Arizona-Utah border. Page overlooks beautiful Lake Powell which offers a variety of water sports including boating, fishing, and river running on the Colorado River above and below Lake Powell. The surrounding land is beautiful red rock country perfect for hiking, hunting, and backcountry activities. Page is at the hub of the Grand Circle which contains America's largest concentration of national parks and monuments, such as, Grand Canyon, Zion, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and the Flagstaff Area Monuments. Page offers normal small community amenities such as an airport, shopping, medical and dental facilities, schools K-12, and college courses available through the local Community College. The elevation is 4300 feet with high-desert sunny days, cool nights, and low humidity. Home purchases are available in the area.

Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid state-issued driver's license.
- Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/22/2025-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
- SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as providing administrative office support such as tracking deadlines, inputting and analyzing data, drafting written correspondence, and maintaining digital and hard copy files; providing internal and external communication while representing an organization to include phone, in person, and written communication; monitoring commercial activities for adherence to applicable laws, regulations and policies; and other similar work. You must include hours per week worked in your resume to receive credit.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
