If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount qualified specialized experience. This position has been identified as one of the key fire management positions under the Interagency Fire Program management (IFPM) Standard. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
For the GW-06 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/GW-05 level. Examples of specialized experience include: Exercising leadership for and executing fire management activities in fire preparedness, fuels management and prevention, and fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire. Work may also include all hazard and emergency response activities. Fire modules or crews include Hand Crews, Engine Crews, and Helitack Crews. Specific specialty areas of work within fire modules or crews include aviation, fire engine operation, fire management planning, fuels management, helitack, and prevention.

SELECTIVE FACTORS: For this GW-0456-06 Wildland Firefighter position you must also meet the following selective placement factors:
- Successfully completed the Primary NWCG Core Requirements of:
- Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) AND
- NWCG Course S-290, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
For the GW-07 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/GW-06 level. Examples of specialized experience include: On-the-line wildland fire experience in initial attack and suppression hand-crew operations, prescribed fire operations, wildland fire engine crew operations, helitack fire crew operations; Provided on-the-job training to lower level Wildland Firefighters; Lead a crew in Wildland Fire Operations such as initial attack and fire-line suppression operations, prescribed fire operations, and/or helitack operations; Conducted daily crew briefings, safety sessions, and/or other basic wildland fire training; Utilized a variety of specialized wildland fire tools and equipment.

SELECTIVE FACTORS: For this GW-0456-07 Wildland Firefighter position you must also meet one of the following selective placement factors:
- Successfully completed the Primary NWCG Core Requirements of EITHER:
- Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) and
- Engine Boss (ENGB) and
- NWCG Course S-211, Portable Pumps and Water Use

- Incident Commander Type 5 (ICT5) AND
- Engine Boss (ENGB) OR
- Crew Boss (CRWB) OR
- Firing Boss (FIRB) AND
- NWCG Course S-290, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
WORK CAPACITY TEST (WCT) for Wildland Firefighters: This position participates in wildland firefighting activities. Based on the type of work performed, TAKING and PASSING the WCT at the ARDUOUS level is a "condition of employment." The Arduous fitness (Pack) test requires completing a three (3) mile hike within forty-five (45) minutes, while carrying a forty-five (45) pound pack. You are strongly encouraged to consult with your physician and begin training immediately if applying for this position. This announcement constitutes the required 30 days advanced notice for testing requirements.
