Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Interfacing with high-level military and civilian officials and high-profile visitors; Arranging complex travel orders to include securing passports, visas, reservations, and transportation arrangements; Validating completion of actions based on Command's views, policies, and practices; Coordinating meetings and briefings at the executive level; and Answering significant inquiries on status of requirements, procedures, formats, and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DK-03 (GS-7).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DK-04 (equivalent to GS-8/10). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No. 57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion. All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.
