Who May Apply: US Citizens
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience at GS-06 level:
One year of specialized experience which includes work with federal, state, municipal, local or private protective organization performing access control, using physical access control equipment, safeguarding personnel, information and critical assets, recording visitor information, and determining whether appropriate authorization for access exists. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Specialized Experience at GS-05 level:
One year of specialized experience which includes: controlling access to a facility; searching various types of vehicles; verify identification; AND/OR performing traffic control duties and operating radios to pass and receive information. Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience at GS-04 level:
Six months of general experience which includes: following written procedures, rules, and regulations in contacts with staff members or the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information AND six months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal service which includes protecting property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; AND/OR maintaining order and protecting life.
OR
I have successfully completed two years of education above the high school level in an accredited college or university.
Minimum Qualification at GS-03 level:
I have successfully completed one year of education above the high school level in an accredited college or university.
OR
Six months of general experience which includes: following written procedures, rules, and regulations in contacts with staff members or the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information.
