Summary

This position is part of the DARPA Mission Services Office (MSO) in the Security and Intelligence Directorate (SID) . The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Director of Security and Intelligence in planning, formulating, directing, evaluating, and improving a comprehensive worldwide DARPA Security and Intelligence Program.

Duties

As a Security Specialist at the GS-0080-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Determines and recommends to the Director, the nature and scope of the DARPA security and intelligence missions.
  • Participates in revising program plans in light of changing DoD and DARPA policies, missions, and major operational doctrines, and formulates changes in policy and programs to ensure overall responsiveness of the national security and intelligence efforts to DARPA requirements.
  • Exercises technical staff surveillance and control over the DARPA security, intelligence, and emergency management programs throughout all elements of DARPA.
  • Monitors selective issues invested with the highest priority and/or sensitivity on a day-to-day basis.
  • Directs actions to ensure that risks are identified, measures are designed, and actions are scheduled to facilitate the secure execution of DARPA projects while also countering vulnerabilities resulting from DARPA's dependence on information systems to accomplish its mission and to protect a wide range of sensitive and highly valuable assets.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS 15 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the federal service (experience may have been gained in the military or private sector):
  • Serves as technical expert to the Director, Security and Intelligence in planning, formulating directing, evaluating, and improving a comprehensive worldwide DARPA Security and Intelligence Program including law enforcement, crime prevention, loss prevention, security education training and awareness, insider threat, PHYSEC, INDUSEC, TECHSEC, INFOSEC, international security, export control, PERSEC, COMSEC, OPSEC, SAP, SCI, CUI, foreign disclosure, intelligence, CI, science and technology (S&T), program protection, countering foreign influence, cybersecurity, AT/FP, and mission assurance.
  • Manage comprehensive security programs.
  • Ensures that DARPA's comprehensive Security Programs are developed, implemented and monitored in accordance with applicable laws, executive orders, DoD Directives and Regulations, and the National Disclosure Policy.
  • Develops and provides professional security guidance/policy to the DARPA technical and support staff consultants, and contractors regarding all matters associated with comprehensive security programs.
  • Advises the program, technical, and contracting staff on applicable security evaluation criteria.
  • Serves on pertinent committees, boards, and working groups.
  • Develops special reports, studies, research papers, decision papers, significant correspondence, and other materials relating to DARPA security programs.
  • Manages the DARPA SAP archives program ensuring the proper record keeping, categorization, retention, and destruction of SAP records.
  • Is responsible for overseeing, managing, and executing inquiries into security incidents, violations and unauthorized disclosures of classified and controlled unclassified information at DARPA and at defense industry facilities under DARPA's cognizance.
