The purpose of this position is to execute the 412th Security Forces Detachment 1 Security Specialist Plans and Programs responsibilities, ensuring the development, maintenance and currency of all security and security forces guidance and directives.

  • Has overall program management responsibility to ensure the development, maintenance and currency of all security and security forces guidance and directives.
  • Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies security guidelines, programs, methods and procedures.
  • Serves as the assistant to the Resource Protection Program Manager. Ensures compliance with requirements for the protection of the industrial plant's PL resources.

  • Up to 25% travel possible
  • Department of Defense Physical Security Certification conferral is required within 2 years of the established.
  • Employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DOD Security Accreditation and Certification.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Work schedule will be aligned to allow full participation in all integrated base defense, security, resource protection, and anti-terrorism exercises.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours. Overtime may be required.
  • Work requires a valid driver’s license and the incumbent must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY) by military or commercial aircraft approximately 5 days per year.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Security Administration Series positions located here

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 in the Federal Service. Specialized experiences is ensuring the development, maintenance and currency of all security and security forces guidance and directives. Oversees and updates the Installation Security Plan. Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of assigned administrative security programs.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of security forces security systems, concepts, principles, and practices including force protection, anti-terrorism, resource protection, physical security, integrated base defense, OPSEC, crime prevention, and law enforcement program directives, policies, instructions, specialties, concepts, principles, requirements, technology, and practices to independently make decisions and recommendations.
  2. Knowledge of the AF overall and AF Security Forces missions, functions, and structure at the unit level to ensure effective implementation and oversight of program plans and processes.
  3. Able to conduct surveys, assessments, and projects and effectively evaluate results for the management and completion of programs.
  4. Ability to read, comprehend, coordinate, and draft all security and security forces guidance and directives.
Desired Skills:
  • 2 years of experience in Military/Civilian Lawenforcement desired.
  • Experience in formatting, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Air Force policies and directives desired.
