Both the Mathematical Statistics Series 1529 and the Data Science Series 1560 have an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) that you must meet to qualify for the position. The IOR for both series is a basic education requirement.
Mathematical Statistics Series 1529:
- Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
or
- Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Data Science Series 1560:
- Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.
or
- Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

In addition to the basic requirement above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service or its equivalent inall of the following:
- Automating workflows using one or more data orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Dagster, Airflow, Azure Data Factory).
- Using Python to extract, manipulate, and integrate information from relational databases.
- Designing a project's architecture and mentoring others on contributing to the project by enforcing coding standards and suggesting stylistic and technical improvements.
- Developing oral and written presentations and communicating complex and technical analyses to inform, influence, and persuade a variety of audiences
