There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Sheet Metal Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Sheet Metal Mechanic tasks. I am skilled in the use of plane and solid geometry and the principles of mensuration to ensure accurate linear and angular dimension, hand scribes location of bend lined, hole centers, diameters, direction and dimension of flange, angle, radius of bend, etc. I can set up and operate various machines of the trade such as CNC 6000- and 4000-watt lasers, CNC punches, CNC metal bending brakes (up to 200 ton), CNC tubing benders, CNC water jet and must be able to interface machine operation software with CNC machining. I am able to use other common brakes, folders, formers, crimping and deburring, turning, louver bending machines, and able to set 100,000-watt resistance spot welders and use hand tools, calipers, levels, micrometers, squared, dividers and protractors, to layout, make patterns, construct, assemble, and install items and systems which are often unconventional and one-of-a-kind prototypes. I can follow blueprints, specifications and drawings relative to marking and laying out material. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. -

- Physical Effort: The work involves prolonged standing and reaching, lifting, and bending while using hand and power tools of the trade. Lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed in a well-lit and ventilated shop, subject to shop noise and disagreeable odors, smoke, and fumes or outdoors with high heat, cold, rain, and humidity. There are dangers of cuts, falls, burns, and injuries from hand and power tools. Wears protective masks, aprons, goggles, and other prescribed safety equipment.
