This vacancy is for aWG-3806-08, Sheet Metal Worker (Aircraft) located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Medium Range Recovery (MRR) Product Line Division, MRR Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) Branch, in Elizabeth City, NC.
Duties
You will serve as a Sheet Metal Worker (Aircraft) and be responsible for performing aircraft sheet metal worker level duties, training others in that trade or other trades if skilled, and performing varied tasks in other trades.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
- Assembling parts by seaming, bolting, screwing, or riveting.
- Fabricating simple items using metal working tools and equipment, grinding corrosion, replacing anchor nuts and rivets, reaming holes, examining aircraft hulls for obvious defects, and patching skin/holes.
- Measuring plans and patterns with pocket rulers, hook rulers, flexible and semi-flexible steel rulers, compasses and other hand measuring devices.
- Cutting and forming by use of basic hand and powered tools such as hammers, chisels, hand snips, band and circle saws, square shears, seamers, bar folders, brakes and stakes.

- Dexterity (Assembly Disassembly reassembly).
