The United States Space Force (USSF) at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico is searching for a Space Launch Vehicle Systems Engineer for SSC/AAMX (NH-0801-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).
Description:
This engineer position is an amazing opportunity to directly support the Missile Defense Agency target launch vehicle mission. The engineer is empowered to plan and carryout out assignments for Missile Defense Agency launch vehicle projects concerning specialty engineering, environment, specs and standards, safety, manufacturing, productivity and mission assurance, which entail a variety of complicating factors, interaction with other engineering specializations, and consideration of the lifecycle of items/systems.
Ideal Candidate:
Professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is required. This position requires the engineer to plan and carryout out assignments for Missile Defense Agency launch vehicle projects concerning specialty engineering, environment, specs and standards, safety, manufacturing, productivity and mission assurance. In addition, the position requires the engineer to accomplish a variety of complicating factors, interaction with other engineering specializations, and consideration of the lifecycle of items/systems. Applies several diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve difficult issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures.
Coordinates the various phases of work with other functional disciplines and interprets/translates engineering requirements into design characteristics and criteria. Formulates and explains recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, equipment, devices, processes, and techniques. Knowledgeable of processes and procedures related to program management and strategic planning activities needed to execute projects and/or studies within established financial and time constraints. Ability to encourage new ideas and innovations; manage personnel, financial and information resources strategically and build coalitions to achieve common goals.
