The United States Space Force (USSF) at Schriever Space Force Base Colorado Springs, Colorado is searching for a Special Access Program Security Officer, MD6 to support MD6 (NH-0080-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

As our GSSO, your day-to-day work will put you at the helm of our special security operations, with responsibilities that span the full spectrum of the Mission Delta's portfolio. You'll manage personnel clearances, secure our facilities, oversee industrial security protocols, and protect our vital information. You won't just be maintaining the status quo; you will be our go-to innovator, tasked with interpreting complex government directives and designing creative solutions for the unique security challenges the Space Force's cyber mission presents. A significant part of your day will involve serving as the trusted security advisor for program leadership, providing clear, authoritative guidance to ensure every aspect of our mission remains secure and compliant.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced security professional with a comprehensive background in managing and implementing multifaceted security programs within a national security environment. Expertise in program level security is essential. The candidate will possess demonstrated proficiency across all security disciplines, including personnel, physical, industrial, and information security. They must be adept at interpreting and applying complex government security directives, developing innovative solutions for unique security challenges, and providing authoritative guidance to leadership and program personnel. Strong analytical, risk management, and communication skills are required, as is the ability to obtain advanced Department of Defense security certifications within two years of employment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Knowledge of Collateral, Intelligence, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP), missions, operations and locations.
2. Knowledge of a wide range of advanced concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, communications, foreign disclosure, classified contracts, and practices involved in security and DoD SCI directives and regulations.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs to support and promote information sharing and strategies.
4. Skill to interpret a variety of security program laws, directives, regulations, and guidance to assist organization in establishing and operating internal security programs. Knowledge of security procedures to handle, protect, and maintain control of TS/SCI/SAP classified material and media.
5. Skilled in analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review, evaluate, and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationships with other protective programs, and cost/benefit considerations.
6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately to a large range of audiences.
7. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the squadron and subordinate units. Skill in planning for the use of intelligence resources (includes budgetary matters), organization of work for collateral, SCI and SAP security officials, and operations of SCI and SAP security offices.
8. Knowledge of security systems, procedures, theories, and devices sufficient to consider and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationships with other protective programs, and cost/benefit considerations.
