Objective 1:
The incumbent is responsible for providing guidance and supervision to the athletic and fitness staff in the absence of or by the direction of the Fitness Director.
Objective 2:
Will directly supervise the staff working in assigned sports programs.
Supervisory responsibilities will include, but not limited to assisting with training of assigned staff, providing guidance regarding policies, customer relations and programming, hiring, counseling and terminating staff. Will be required to open/close and operate the assigned facility(s) during operating hours.
Objective 3:
Plans and administers sports program for a military community of active and retired military as well as authorized civilians, contractors and dependents.
The program primarily involves developing, planning and executing a variety of fitness events for each fiscal year. Plans and coordinates the details for recurring and non-recurring activities, special events and joint community undertakings within the assigned programs as to make maximum use of resources, consistent with military mission and with the principles of recreation program development. Combines program efforts with other Fitness Division team members.
Schedules and publicizes sports programs, ensuring maximum effectiveness in attracting and motivating participants of all ages and in providing the widest possible range of activities from the standpoint of participant response, resources, unforeseen developments and program objectives. Adapts and varies program activities in the light of these findings.
Provides guidance and leadership to the various fitness activities and participants; modifying, adapting, expanding or otherwise changing plans and procedures for such activities as developments require.
Instructs individual's participants and groups of participants in those activities for which the employee has technical expertise. Within established policy and objectives, devises, improves and adopts various activities to fit the conditions of the environment and to conform to limitations in funds, facilities, equipment and staff.
Objective 4:
Prepares and justifies annual operating budgets for inclusion in the overall Morale, Welfare and Recreation department budget submission.
Budgets are based on needs assessment of the population served and include projects, payroll, equipment, awards, training, travel and lodging. Estimates projected income derived from the fees and charge. Monitors inventories, cost controls, patron counts and maintains related records and reports.
Objective 5:
Arranges for the equipment, supplies and services needed to accomplish scheduled programs and makes recommendations for improvements. Inspects and maintains facilities, equipment and supplies used for sport activities, events and programs.
Establishes and oversees various NAF contracts that provide services for sport programs assist with reservations, contracts, and access lists for various sport, sports and aquatics facilities.
Objective 6:
Plans organizes and conducts sport specific conditioning sessions, sport skill assessments, clinics or seminars. Coordination with other department team members for assistance is encouraged.
Sessions may also include proper implementation and maintenance of conditioning for aerobic/anaerobic sports, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, flexibility training, nutrition education and/or other specific needs.
